  1. Please address…Why has the lake level fallen so dramatically in the last5 years?

    • Hello Bill,

2020- Last year the lake was extremly low due to lack of rain. We had almost 1 1/2 ft less of rain than normal. The pump ran most of the summer to help, but it was hot and no rain
2019- The lake was actually above legal level for almost the entire summer. We never had to turn on the pump. We did once just to test it
2018- well was being replaced, but laker was still at legal level
2017- well was deemed non-usable and unable to turn on. Had to spend the winter arringing to have fixed in sping 2018
2016- pump went out, and was replaced This was during a drought so it was REALLY bad this year. This is when the muck level was first noticed to be as bad as it was. We were only a few inches of water away from being a swamp.

The lake is legally kept at 2 levels. A winter and a summer. They vary by 6 inches. The board will go in around mid-april to help insure the rain is kep to fill the lake back up, but also not too soon so that it floods (which has happened in 2018, and 2019. The lake is kept 2 inches above legal summer level to insure we keep the extra water. If we experience a drought, the well pump can help. It will put 5 inches of water into the lake per month running non-stop. This is not enough to “make up” water, but does help insure we don’t end up with no water. I would strongly recommend setting your boat hoist height more towards the end of summer rather then the begining. This iwll insure that even when the water is low you can still use your boat.

      Hope this helps,

      • Thanks so much for your time and information….i will pass this information on to my neighbors.
