The WRC pulled the well pump motor to replace the bearings in order to get the pump noise levels back down to what they were previously. Several justified noise complaints were lodged, including mine. Apparently they never checked the motor itself last year, they just rebuilt the pump mechanism. Should be back in business in about a week if all goes well. With today’s 1/3″ of rain, the lake is just over 2″ low.
In their defense, the tapered roller thrust bearings support the weight of the pump and the thrust developed while pumping, and it is difficult to verify bearing noise in the shop with no load.
Were weed chemicals put in the lake last week as posted? The weeds in front of our home are out of control and sticking up inches above the water. I don’t remember them ever being this bad.
I talked to the WRC this morning. They turned the pump off just for the weekend because they had had some complaints of the motor being too noisy. They intend on turning it back on either this afternoon or tomorrow. The contractor is supposed to return this week to do some finish up work and also to evaluate the motor.
Yea!!! After one year out of service, the old pump on the new well was finally turned on today! Now we see how long it takes to get the lake two inches back up to normal legal level. Still work to be done on the site, fencing, grass, old well conversion to observation well.
An observation well is just a second well that allows one to observe the water level in the aquifer adjacent to the main pumping well, both under static and pumping conditions. It will tell us if the pumping well is operating at the maximum discharge the aquifer will allow without excessive draw down in the water table level.
In my opinion, in order to leave a comment, I feel one must be logged in, even if it is a fictitious name. When I see “Anonymous” leave a comment, I presumed it was always the same person. Today that was me, in error, not logged in. Quite confusing. Are people afraid to use their real name/email, or are most of the “Anonymous” comments an error, like mine? How do we know folks commenting as “Anonymous” are even Duck Lake residents?
Please continue with your great service. There are many of the home owners that appreciate what you are doing.
There is always a small group of individuals that must complain about something ,
I agree please keep up the good work at helping Duck lake with the carp no one wants. Some people don’t know when to not cause a problem when there is no issue.

Yes, at least in Little Duck. I saw them. Weeds do not die instantly. Takes a week or two for them to die off then detach.

Thanks, I hope that happens!

Congrats on a job well done. And most importantly, thank you. Without your efforts, I’m sure the county would still be talking about how to fix it.

Awesome!! Thank you.

Exactly. Please keep up the good work and keep making a dent in the population. Don’t let a few individuals speak for the majority!
