  1. The lily pads between Araby Ct. and Chanda Ct. are becoming a nuisance again. These were brought on by the aerators last year and are really developing this year. It also seems like the aerotor has moved closer to shore—might need to be checked.

    • Hi. This is Matthew Robert from the DLPOA board. I just wanted to clarify that the lily pads are actually not a result of the aeration system promoting their growth, but the result of the aeration system making changes to the lake. These changes are a good thing. Seeing things grow where they have not in a long time, for example, means that the system is indeed working. Lily pads love muck and if the muck is shifting in your canal and pads are growing in places where they had not grown before, then the system is indeed loosening up that layer of muck that has been there for so many years and thus changing where things can grow. Now, we could treat the pads chemically, but that would defeat the purpose of switching over to the more natural way of cleaning up our lake using bio-augmentation treatments. The bio system does take longer than simply spraying more chemicals on them, but we are trying to switch to this more natural method for long term health of our lake and it will take time. We are planning another “bio-blast” the week of August 10th so I will make sure Everblue Lakes pays special attention to your area. In the meantime, please be patient and let the biology work for us all and if you want, maybe try raking out the pads in your immediate area manually until the muck habitat has dissipated.

  3. I kayaked by the pump today. I heard it running and I thought I heard water but I see no sign of water flowing into the area. The water looked totally stagnant.

    • I walk by the pump every day and never paid attention to it. Now it can’t be ignored. It is super loud. Hope it is running properly.

  4. Please leave the WRC lake level supervisor’s contact info so he can be barraged by less than campers about the WRC again being complacent in keeping to the established lake levels in a timely fashion.
    No rest for the wicked.

    • We are trying to avoid bombarding the WRC with everybody calling with complaints. If that happens it will be more difficult for the designated lake board members to get call backs from the WRC. We certainly can’t stop you from calling and getting phone numbers, but it is discouraged. Mike and I are on top of it. BTW, not everybody is in favor of higher levels, that is why Judge Adams set the legal level in 1962 after an exhaustive engineering/surveying study and questionnaires. Has anything changed since then that would justify re-petitioning for a new lake level (which could end up lower)? Not really.

  5. Hello, Is the lake pump on and working properly ?

    • I went by this morning at 8:30 and the well is not on yet. I communicated with the WRC lake level supervisor late Friday asking it to be turned on with the hot, dry spell we all see in the weather forecast. He said they would be by Monday (yesterday) to check the level and determine if they should be turning the well pump on. Friday the lake was at exactly legal level. Today it is a half inch low. Ideally I would like to see the lake stay within a +/- 2″ range, trending toward the high side as I know the residents prefer. I will text him again this morning with our concerns.

BTW Big Duck is at 80 degrees this morning and the water clarity (Secchi) is 7 feet. I expect it to hit 82-83 degrees later this afternoon.

      • Guess we were spoiled with those higher lake levels for the last month. Thank you for your prompt e-mail.

        >

      • I work for NOAA and do the climate outlooks too for southeast Mich and yes, we are going to maintain a hot mostly dry pattern for at least next 14 days. If they don’t turn them on now, it will be a hard catch up.

    • The WRC was here today. The pump is on.

  6. Thanks to all the enthusiasm and positive support at the recent DLPOA meeting Wednesday night of both the traditional zoo animals and the newer art form like the Walt Disney character “Ariel the little Mermaid”. The Octopus, Parrot and Flamingo are also back at their zoo home.

  7. Spoke to Ryan yesterday at lake meeting, he was to check with everblue about distributing the enzymes on lake by white Lk rd. I hope someone lets us know when that will happen. Thank you in advance Wanda allers

  8. Hi,
How far down is the ski course?
Is it any concern if you happen to fall off a tube or wakeboard?

    Thank you

    • I was involved in the installation 19 years ago and the ski buoys (balls) are about 10 feet below the surface. There are cables that sit on the bottom of the lake. The only time you should have a issue is when the course is raised.

  10. To: “Art Vandelay” & “Concerned zoo paytron”
We retrieved “Ariel The Little Mermaid” my grandchildren wanted to know why “Art” stole and hurt “Ariel. I tried to explain there are just some mean & angry people in the world. We hope some day you can find happiness in life without hurting other people.
Thanks to all the other Duck Lake Residents for their positive support !
