  1. Just wondering, will next meeting be on Zoom?

    • Last anonymous was Ray Nowicki Jr, sorry.

      • Hi Ray it’s Deb Lenzen. I posted it on here but don’t see it now. 3/10/21 at 7:30 pm via zoom. Look under announcements it is also there. Link published.

        • Is next meeting April 14?

          • Normally meetings are the 3rd Wednesday of every month. So, next meeting is 4/21. The only reason we moved March meeting up one week is because 3rd Wednesday of March fell on St Patrick’s Day. Definitely would have been a low meeting turn out.

  2. Hello DLPOA friends! We will have our meeting this month via Zoom, Feb 10 at 7pm. Dr. Jennifer Jermalowicz-Jones of Restorative Lake Sciences will be in attendance to answer questions while we are reviewing the 2020 lake study report. 3. Hello fellow Lake property owners. We are experiencing significant damage to Flynn Drive this season as the increased number of Snow Mobiles are going up and over the sides of the road that comes out to the Island. This tears down the shoulder of the road and causes sever damage to the road in Spring. Please talk to you Friends, Neighbors, and Children and ask them to avoid this practice as we have already spent Thousands of dollars this past year to improve the already deteriorating dirt road that is out only access to our properties. Thank you

  4. Does anyone know when the 2nd year aeration result study will be out? Also, I never heard from anyone about missing a 5×5 raft. It washed up on my shore couple months ago in Little Duck. Thanks

    • Hello Danny,

Sorry for the delay. It took a while to gather all of the info. Everything will be reviewed and answerd at this months meeting. Here are the details…

  5. Hello DLPOA friends! We will not have a monthly meeting for January, 2021 and will reconvene February 10, 2021 for a Zoom meeting at 7pm. Stay tuned for details and a link. We look forward to reviewing the 2020 lake study report at the February Zoom meeting.

  6. This blue square approx 5×5 that appears to be a raft washed up on shore a couple of weeks ago kind of across from Axford Acres beach along Maple Ridge. Any ones? No problem leaving it there til Spring. I tried copying a picture on this but can’t seem to get it to paste. Contact Danny 248-396-2624 if it is yours or know whose it is. Thanks

  7. Does anyone know if they’ve even done any bio treatments in the Northwest top/far area of the lake where no bubblers have been installed? Or is this section being completely ignored?

    • Hi Dmerta,

I am sorry to ask, but can you possibly share futher details on where you are pinpointing? The system was developed to fully oxginate the waters that were near every home on the lake. This does not mean a bubbler would be provided for each house, but rather that all of the water would be saturated with oxygen. To date the studies have shown this is being done. Please understand that this will be a SLOW process to reverse the many years of build up that has occured. I understand that certain areas are looking for results sooner than others, but please note that no area is being ignored. Please join the meeting on the 10th to hear the latest update.

      Regards,

      • Hi Ryan, we’re at the very top of Zone 1, Northernmost tip off of White Lake Road. Our house is on Pepper Trl. I know the original plans were for multiple aerators near our place, and I understand that those were preliminary, but we have zero aerators in our Bay Area near our house, the closest is 75-100 yards away, and there’s no possible way that unit could have any effect closer to our house. The muck is just way too thick. There were two guys that came out to look at the area, including our shoreline, and said they would get back to us. We never heard a thing. We did purchase a muck blaster unit (extremely expensive) that we started using this past summer/fall, but there no way it can have any effect on such a large area. We understand that it is a slow process, but it honestly feels like this area is being ignored. And if there are substantiated reasons for this area being so drastically altered from the original strategic plans, we would just like someone to come out and tell us that so we can plan accordingly to remain in our home or consider moving on. Having someone from Lake Savers coming back out, looking at the area, and then explaining to us in person what the reality is would be incredibly appreciated. Because again, what we were told was going to be the plan of action originally has changed into what appears to be our area being completely ignored, not just with aeration but with any other treatments. Thanks again Ryan. Doug and Monika.

        • I feel the exact same way you do. We are at the end of Pepper Trail…between Chevron and the very end of Pepper Trail. We were also promised a bubbler in our cove. Our muck is still just as thick and deep as it was before the system was installed. Can we get a bubbler in our cove for at least this next season?

          • Hello Doug and Jenna,

I think there may be a disconnect on how the system works.  The muck is addressed by a naturally
occurring aerobic bacteria that we supplement through “bio-blast” treatment from our partners at Ever
Blue (Lake Savers). The sole purpose of the diffusers is to add oxygen to the water. They do not, and
cannot, directly affect the muck themselves.
We have over 500 houses on the lake. We have just 170 diffusers on Duck Lake.  There is not a diffuser
for every house.  That said, this area of the lake has more diffusers per acre than any other area.
The dissolved oxygen level (DOL) for our lake now meets the level required by the enzymes we’re
encouraging to eat the muck. This is confirmed by Restorative Lake Sciences (RLS), the 3 rd party firm
we’ve retained to monitor our progress and report to State per our permit.  I can assure you that your
area IS being affected by the bubblers.
I do understand and share the frustration and the want for an immediate fix.  This is a permanent
solution to a problem years in the making. Lake Savers is constantly reviewing the lake and working on
ways to address problem areas.  This is discussed at every DLPOA meeting. Due to our favorable
performance to our 2018-2022 budget, we have elected to add additional bio treatments this year.  We
have asked RLS to take a more active role in overall lake management. They will be monitoring weed
applications and offering advice on which chemicals to treat with and where to treat. This will ensure
that we are not shooting ourselves in the foot by killing the enzymes we’re trying to encourage.
While the main focus of this system is muck reduction, we also need to celebrate the fact that we are on
a path to dump WAY less chemical into the body of water we all swim in and love.  Overall water quality
is improving each year.  The State just made a HUGE announcement about the elimination of the use of
copper sulfate to treat algae blooms.  If we did not have this system in place this would have had a
devastating impact on us.  As a result of this system, we were already on the road to eliminating that
            chemical.
I apologize for the long note, but I feel it very important to highlight the other impacts affected by this
system.  I am confident that overtime you will see the impacts positively affecting your area.

  8. Hello DLPOA friends! This is a reminder that we will not have a monthly meeting for November or December, 2020 and will reconvene January 20, 2021. Location TBD. We look forward to reviewing the 2020 lake study report at the January meeting.

  9. Why are the bubblers still on? I thought they were to be turned off nov 1.the muck is just piling up around mine.

  10. Hello everyone! Reminder…this Wednesday, October 21, is our monthly meeting and annual elections. This month, instead of the Axford Acres Beach, we will meet at the home of Ryan Charlton who lives across the street from the Axford Acres Beach. Our meeting will begin at 7:00 pm instead of 7:30 pm. You can still park your car at the Axford Acres Beach parking lot and walk across street to Ryan’s house.
Ryan’s address is 3250 Ramada Dr, Highland, MI 48356. Ryan has ample outdoor space and lighting to hold our meeting and make social distancing more comfortable. So, BRING A CHAIR and please join us! Looking forward to seeing all of you!
