  1. Hello members! We are going to cancel this month’s board meeting and reconvene in February. We should have the annual report from lake scientist by our February 16 meeting and will have more to discuss at that time. Hope everyone is staying healthy and Happy New Year!

  2. Good afternoon! There will NOT be a December board meeting.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

  3. Good evening! There will not be a November board meeting. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  4. Good Evening,
Does our lake have a Lake Improvement Board that includes city officials and 1 lake representative? My parents lake is voting on moving towards this model and Duck Lake was listed as being one of the lakes in the area that follows this model. I wasn’t sure, but told my dad I would ask. He wanted to know if there were any downsides and/or benefits to this. Thanks for any info.

    Dana

    • Hi Dana, yep, we have the Duck Lake Improvment Board and Ryan Charlton is our citizen representative on the board. Michigan’s Inland Lake Improvement Act provides this mechanism for establishing a special assessment district to collect funds needed to improve and maintain the lake.

Upside: It’s a way to engage all 1,154 property owners in our lake community in improving our lake.

Downside: It’s a process that requires thought, planning and a bit of politics.

  5. I would think you would be in “the loop” concerning the many cut lines issue since you posted on here several months ago looking for someone to step up to repair any cut lines so us lake residents don’t get soaked the $180 per cut line repair to the company.
If you don’t know, why doesn’t Ryan chime in with answers? Thought that is part of his job?

    • Hello Anonymous,
My apologies for not responding. As you can imagine between this website, Facebook, meetings, and the hot line, there are many topics and questions that pop up. In short, I guess we never responded or sought out a “dedicated repair man” as we are still working with Ever Blue to identify ultimately who is on the hook for these costs. To date we have not received any bills for these line cuts, or compressor repairs. We discussed this for a bit at the October meeting as Chip had an in-depth conversation with Ever Blue. We are going to have a meeting with them this winter to review and come to an agreement on who is responsible for what. As we come to an end of the first 5-year contract we want to make sure we have a clear plan moving forward. At that point if a dedicated person for repairing lines is needed to save costs, we will be sure to follow up to see who might be able to help. As of now, nobody is getting soaked for any cash yet.

Hope this helps and please stay tuned for additional nfo. Again, sorry for the late response

  6. I have no idea, I am the “lake level” guy, not the bubbler guy. I only made that previous comment based on one call from EverBlue asking about the low lake level and that it was causing hose cuts.

BTW, please try to remember to sign your comments so we know who we are communicating with and that you are actually a lake resident. It is too easy to comment and post and forget to do that.

  7. Hey Ole, Hey Ryan, how many lines were cut this summer and how much money did it cost us??

  8. Ryan from the WRC responded to me today and verified that they have already pulled the dam boards to try to get to -6″ water level in November. All this rain makes it difficult.

  9. Hello everyone! Reminder…Wednesday, October 20, is our monthly meeting and annual elections. This month, instead of the Axford Acres Beach, we will meet at the Highland Township Activity Center, 153 N. Milford Rd, Highland, MI. This is a new location. Not the location off John St. Our meeting will begin at 7:30 pm. You have to enter the parking lot off Milford road and turn right into the business strip mall right before the first light south of 59. There is a sign on the road directing where it is at. Looking forward to seeing all of you!

  10. Hello Members! This is a reminder that we will have our regularly scheduled 3rd Wednesday of the month board meeting this Wednesday 9/15 at 7:30 pm @ Axford Acres Beach. Hope to see you all there!
